Well I have to make sure the puppy is a good fit for the person(s) interested. I match the puppy with the owner (try to anyway) I know my puppies very well and if I have a quite shy puppy I would would not sell it to someone that has an active lifestyle of travel (this is just an example). I did have a situation where a person wanted a puppy of mine. Everything was perfect, they waited a long time and wanted a puppy that was very tiny. We tentativley set a date for the pup to go home. Well the puppy wasn't quite ready, he was VERY VERY small and this person had an older Yorkie that was not fond of having another house mate. So I told the person we need to wait a little longer, for my puppy to get a little bigger. This person got upset with me and expect me to let her have the puppy on the date we agree regardless what was in the best interest of the puppy. That is an example of someone I woudl change my mind about. Everythign was perfect but she showed her lack of interest of the puppy's well being 'because she took off of work that week'. I prefer someone that is more concerned with the puppy being ready to go a new environment.

Of course lies and deciet are also big reasons. Ususally I can tell in just a few converstions and emails if I am comfortable or not. But it all depends on the environment and the puppy; must be a perfect fit!!
