Buster is 4 years and 7 months old. He has never had any prior skin issues. He has had a skin irritation issue for the past several months. We use Hartz Ultra Guard flea and tick protection on him. He gets bathed around twice a month with Oster Oatmeal Naturals shampoo. He eats Purina food regularly and once in a while we give him a table treat (always something healthy, no junk).
Does anyone recognize this skin irritation? It seems to be a bit "puffy" and the hair is missing. It also has some white flakey crust. It is only on one side of his snout and nowhere else on his body. The skin seems to be dry. Here are a few photos. If anyone could shed some light on this issue I would really appreciate it.
* Just realized something that may be relevant. Lately (the past few months) he has been rubbing his snout on the corners of the door openings/walls in my apartment, and now that I think about it he it probably itches him and he is "scratching" it, so to say. His skin has also been very sensitive to touch lately, especially on his back. When I scratch him or comb him he/his skin tenses up immensely, every time, regardless if I am applying enough pressure or not.
Any ideas?
