A pup pick is not a typical arrangement..in all my years of breeding I have never had a show breeder ask for a puppy. Pay the fee and keep all the pups is wise. A fair fee for a non-champion is $400 to $500 IMO. Champions are not much more I have found.
IF good stud service is available at a fair price, I would never own a stud with less then 4 bitches.
