Yes the Yorkie originated from England. However, if you knew anything about genetics, breeders in Canada and the US were selecting breeding stock for what they were looking for in a yorkie which over time was not the same as European show breeders. If you knew breeders from even 30 years ago, at that time they were selecting for different than today. High winning in the show rings Yorkies from the 50, 60's perhaps 70's would not get a second look today.
So here we are many many decades later and there are differences between the European/England Yorkie in the show rings and those found in the show rings in Canada and the US.
