You will need to get a preventative for your dog like everyone is saying. I would also look into have your yard treated. I believe there are services that you can get on a monthly basis. I have a service that sprays my entire property 3x a season. The community as a whole was getting it done. Which was nice. Now only a couple of homes are not, foolish in my opinion where we live. Fortunately both the neighbors beside me get it done.
Good luck and you should always do a tick check when you come back inside. I do this by picking them up and very excitedly saying, ticky, ticky check and the dogs not only think I've lost my mind
