in USA, every year appx. up to 5 mln dogs are killed every year... because of overpopulaton... Of course, yorkies are way more popular than pitbulls, but there are still many in shelters looking for love. Nothing wrong with them, most of them originally from breeders. many puppies BOUGHT from breeders also may have many issues, health and mental.
I personally think breeding this days is morally wrong. IMHO, of course.

While I am a big advocate for adopting. I do have to say this, as a person who hs adopted many, and as a person who been in the rescue field, doing home visits and the likes. A Rescue Dog is not for everyone. I'm sure you know that. I know after talking with many people who have put in applications for adoption and then doing a phone interviews before a home visit is set up, you get a feel for people, and rescue is not always the way to go.
I however do not see a problem with Reputable Breeders who do it for the right reason, to better the breed. I would recommend that for people.
I will also state that I have adopted Yorkies who have come horrible puppymill situations. I remember my very 1st one, I thought I had made the worst discission in the woprld when I adopted her,but I will tell she was my joy. She was 8 yrs old when I adopted her, I was lucky to have had her for 4 years.
Yes, I have bought one of my late Yorkies from a show breeder, and this was after I had adopted 2 puppymill rescue's. This is just my opinion only.
I will also say my last 2 I adopted recently was my Willow who is 6 yrs old and she came from a breeding situation, I adopted her in November. My Allie I just adopted March, she was an owner turn in to rescue.
I will always be against puppymill's, BYB's and the like, but like I said there are times when people are better off purchasing.
