At 6 mos your baby is still young. I have read on here that some say it can take up to a year and sometimes yorkie's aren't ever fully potty-trained. So far my 6 month old male is doing well. When he makes an error it is always on me. He will go to the door and alert me when he needs to go. I have noticed with the heat coming on strong in Texas that he is drinking much more, and therefore goes potty more.
As for the potty pads I have read that using the washable one's alleviates the issue of puppy wanting to shred the shreddable paper kind. If you do a search on here I am almost certain people have listed the good brands to buy for washable. Good luck to you...
