Everything we do can potentially be a problem because each yorkie is individual just as we are. However, using calcium during active labor very responsibly does help. I use to add a 1 tsp of cottage cheese to my pregnant yorkies during the last 3 weeks of pregnancy at my vet's advice and he felt that all my puppies and mamas' did very well. I can not say I have never had problems because I have been in situations that only prayer got us through them. But for the most part, having a good talk and an excellent relationship with your vet for prenatal, postnatal and normal life medical needs makes for a great outcome normally. I agree with you wholeheartedly.
