Angry Calcium oxilate bladder stones and MVD

Ok,

I am sorry I am always posting about health issues but I cant help it he always has issues ! So Gio just had surgery 3 weeks ago to remove bladder stones and explore his liver. They found he has calcium oxilate stones and MVD after the liver biopsy two totally separate issues. Gio has been on a low protein diet for MVD since sept. 2010 (Royal Canine Hepactic LS) and it has worked really good for him. Now they want me to change his diet all together and my vet says a low protein diet might not be needed since he only has MVD is this true?! I have not heard this anywhere.

Also, since the surgery he is constantly thinking he has to pee still! It is driving me nuts one because he is going in the house and two he looks like he is in pain because he is straining (His little red peepee sticks out when he does this) My vet is saying he could still have inflammation but it is not getting better. They checked him for more stones, did a catheter, and tested his urine for infection (I am still waiting on that)

Any thoughts, experience, suggestions?! Thanks in advance!
