Mine have been around dogs of all sizes (family has Old English Sheepdogs), but they definitely prefer dogs closer to their size. I only let my girls go to dog parks and doggie daycares where they separate the dogs by size. Our favorite doggie daycare in Atlanta actually had a group of just minis (basically toy breeds), which was great.
Maybe this girl isn't the right one or maybe it isn't the right time, but you can certainly take steps to try to socialize Rosie so when the time is right you won't need to be as concerned with that aspect of it.
I will say I think it's normal to be a little worried when adding a new member to the family. I knew once I saw Lane I wouldn't be able to say no to her, and I debated that morning if I should even go. Of course, once she was officially mine I was so happy I had some happy tears and tears of relief when we got to car. |
I do have the friend that is coming over with her Yorkie. I don't even know if there is a doggie day care around me. Something I need to look into. My stepson has a female Yorkie and I know that he would let me bring her here to see how Rosie does. Maybe I need to do that for a few days and see what happens.
Thank you so much for the suggestions. These are things I never really thought about.
