I also feed Wellness small breed. Never had any problems about freshness or any creepy crawly nasty infestations. I keep the bag ziplocked. I did have an issue with bird seed a long time ago. That had to do with the fact that is was old. Anther thing that comes to mind is moisture in the bag. That can leed to moldy kibble easily. i store the WEllness off the floor too. Never any problems.
