| FIREWORKS & Yorkies!!!! Please Read!! Hi there everyone!
This is just a reminder that with the holiday fast approaching, it is time to think about our furkids and their possible reactions to the booms, crackles, bangs, and bright lights. Every year MANY dogs go missing because they get scared and RUN from their yards or out of the backdoor during family parties and gatherings.
Here are a few suggestions & reminders!
Make sure that you have proper identification on your dog.
If you are entertaining with people going in and out, it is best to keep your dog confined in a safe closed off room (once the fireworks start.. they might try to make an escape).
If your dog is scared, try to keep some soft music on in the area that they are in ..... and you could try a thundershirt-something I have seen good reviews on.
Don't assume that your dog won't be scared...... some dogs are "gun shy" just like people are afraid of spiders, snakes, etc..... better safe than sorry!!
We usually watch the fireworks from our back yard, and the dogs are safely fenced AND on leashes at that time.... depending on Seegers reaction, will depend if they stay out with us this year (the other two haven't had issues). I won't keep him out if he is afraid.... it just wouldn't be fair to him.
I HOPE THAT EVERYONE HAS A WONDERFUL, FUN, SAFE, AND UNEVENTFUL HOLIDAY!!!! Happy 4th!!!
....... Also, it would be great if you could give us more ideas or suggestions to keep your Yorkies (pets) safe this holiday!!!
