I use a Pet Gear booster car seat in the back seat of my car. ZoE likes riding in it because it boosts her up so she can see out the windows. It's just big enough for her to lay down & sleep in on long trips too.
I talked to a lady at the vet whose pomeranian was killed during an accident while riding in a console mounted car seat (and her daughter in the front passenger seat was severely injured), when the airbags deployed in the crash. Since hearing about that, I will only put ZoE in the back seat in any vehicle.
