Some time ago I researched this same question. And I remember coming across two things that stood out to me.
One was that you should never store in plastic, only in ceramic, glass, or metal containers with a sealed lid.
Well, that's out of the question for me.
The second thing I read was that you should never remove the food from the bag it's packaged in. The bag itself is "supposedly" designed to retain the foods proper texture. ie: My TOTW would get dry when I'd remove it from the bag and put it into a big tupperware container.
So now I keep it in the bag and clip it shut and then put that in a plastic container. And the food keeps that oily type consistency. And my dogs will eat the last bite as quickly as they eat the first bite of a fresh bag.
I always felt the food would get somewhat stale and often my dogs would not eat the last quarter of a bag of food.
