I don't doubt the grandmother will continue enabling her daughter for the rest of her life, no matter what. Apparently that family has always walked on eggs around that daughter and you wonder if they - at least the mother - aren't/isn't is every sense co-dependent. I know that the brother's creepy bawling on the stand for being "left out" spoke volumes in that vein. Such a sad story all the way around what can happen when a person is allowed to go through life without ever having to face consequences. That lifestyle eventually hurts the person and everyone who has covered for them.
