The hard part is deciding what you NEED to know. Photoshop is so powerful, and if you start learning something too complicated, it might get frustrating.
The person who helped me started with the section on "curves." You can set highlights, blacks, midtones easily.

See, I don't even know what curves are!?!?!> I'm old an was taught to photograph things the way you needed them. We did not have anything to fix mistakes! I might get the CD's and give them a try!
