My Vet will NOT spay a female after a c-section. I have never had the issue of a ruptured uterus and pray I never do! As a rule in my home I watch each particular girl because every whelping is different.. I have one female that can free whelp a litter of pups in 1 hour and I have other females that it can take of to 4 hours to whelp the entire litter.. Since I worked as a vet tech for years I have never taken a female in unless I know that a c-section is absolutely necessary.. I was taught well on helping manipulate a puppy that is having trouble being whelped, from making sure the head is in the right position and those awful breach births.. I do administer oxytocin later that day after the whelping is completed to make sure all the placentas have been discarded of.. I have also noticed that alot of the breeding/whelping books out there do more to scare us than to help us.. JMHO..
