The other problem with ice cubes is they can cause belly aches, at least they did with Max. I fed him way too much crushed ice once when he was teething. Poor baby suffered. I limited him after that by holding the ice cube and allowing him to suck on it. Many dogs don't have this problem, but I thought I would warn the OP of the possibility.
