I did not know that cataracts lead to glaucoma. My George has cataracts in both eyes. I had taken him to an opthamologist some time ago to inquire about removing them. The surgery could not be done because the opthamologist told me that often cataract surgery will lead to glaucoma. The surgery can increase the pressure in the eye. Since my George already had some issues with pressure (he does not have glaucoma), the opthamologist said he was at high risk if the surgery was done. His cataracts are heavy now and he cannot see. Thankfully, he has not developed glaucoma. |
