Wouldn't worry about it. Ellie is around who knows what all the time and she is fine.
Here though, we do heartworm preventative (may be N/A in Cali) that covers some intestinal parasites. She could potentially pick up worms if sniffing feces or even other parasites like giardia and coccidea. But still there is no reason to worry as long as she gets fecals regularly and sees the vet when having persistent diarrhea and/or vomiting.
