Gastric bypass is such a radical step. I know for some people it's the only way, but if we can all learn to eat healthier, even in small ways, we are usually better off.
I do understand the problem with spouses that don't feel they have to diet. The key is THIS IS NOT A DIET. It is a committment to eating healthy foods. Just because something is healthy, does not mean it TASTES BAD! Marie, one of my favorite cookbooks is "The Everything Low Fat-High Flavor Cookbook" by Lisa Shaw. And you can take any recipe written anywhere and do a few healthy substitutes in the ingredients. It's really just a matter of choices. Get your hubby to TRY to cook a bit healthier by using fresh foods and low fat, low sodium ingredients.
Same way with you ladies who have to cook for "diet resistant" men. Make your substitutes in the ingredients, and don't TELL him until after he eats it! I am betting he will be surprised at how good the food is!
Really, it's a matter of small changes. Just make the first few steps. Try it slowly, and as you get into making your choices you will see how easy it is to make healthy eating a part of your life. And of the lives of the people you love! Want to see something cool? You should see my 4 year old grandson telling his other gramma that Pop Tarts are bad because they have bad fats in them and he doesn't like that! Oh MY goodness!!!
We can do this!! And the people we love can do it too. Don't tell them it's GOOD for them! Just ask them, "Isn't this GOOD?"
HUGS to all of you determined people!!
