I can say that in my experience, what it says in the bag is really too much. My bag of dog food calls for 3/4 cups - 1 cup a day but he rarely finish it. He is still active and looks healthy to me. I finally just trying to cut down until he started finishing his food.

We recently just added raw to his diet so he gets even less kibbles now but still the same way. I just go by how he is doing. If you feel like your baby is loosing weight then give him more otherwise, stick to what your doing if its working.

I wanted to add that his vet thinks he is also a healthy weight, so him eating less than what the bag of food says is ok with me and my vet.
