Flushing doesn't kill them? How could they come back? When I find a tick that has not latched on to the cat yet I crush it with tweezers. I have read that you are not to handle them because they carry disgusting germs. I have a tick puller that I take any engorged ticks I find off the cats with. I usually just flush them because I can just tap it into the toilet and not have to risk touching them. When they are engorged they sink to the bottom of the water because of the weight. Of course I always wash my hands. I can't imagine how they could survive and escape a septic tank.
