Hopefully it is just a stubborn case of kennel cough. When I got Cali as a puppy she had kennel cough and gave it to my older pom. It took them a little over 3 months to completely get rid of it. Towards the end they would only cough in the morning or when real active. I did have my vet check them every few weeks to make sure it wasn't something more serious. You could get a second opinion to ease your mind. I hope Texas gets over it soon. And welcome to YT.
