I mean, it just depends on what you believe. There is a lot of research out there regarding s/n.

I personally... probably wouldn't do it at 5 months. Mainly due to the growth plates, etc. I do think it is important to let them mature a bit physically. But at the same time, I think it's very important to make sure no "oops!" happens and if a dog is marking like crazy or humping, etc, it may be necessary to do it earlier.

Jackson was neutered at 7 months but he never really had a marking problem or a humping problem or any behavioral things that needed to be fixed so I held off for a while. However, 6 months is the general consensus when it comes to neutering so I am sure he will be fine.
