Ava fell off the couch and fractured her C2 vertebrae. She is a very sick little dog. She is 3.6 pounds. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? The ER vets were awesome and have been a great support. Our regular vet is super busy and we are going to see them 2morrow AM. Her pain meds don't seem to be enough. Each day she seems worse to me. I understand how serious this injury is and was just wondering when I might see some improvement which would give me hope.
I know she shouldn't have been on the couch. We had people over and I was in the back of the house getting ready to go to my daughter's graduation. I am so sad. Ava is the nicest dog I have ever had. She is acting so stoic and it breaks my heart for her.
This is a serious fracture as I'm sure you know. Is she on crate rest with a neck brace? I do concur with the others if there is anyway possible to take her to a specialist it would be well worth the $$$. Just so you know a little ditty of a refrain from my anatomy class is C1 2 3 keeps the diaphram alive.

Also let your regular vet know about her progress. Consider hand feeding her as well to avoid strong neck flexion.
