I will be a new mom to a yorkie in about 4 weeks when he is ready to leave the breeder! I am so excited and nervous!

I have a flexible schedule but some days I will be gone at least eight hours. I am debating if I want to crate train or just put my yorkie in my kitchen with baby gates and potty pads. But I am wondering if any of you out there have trained your yorkies to use potty pads and go outside?

I am trying to figure out if it is best to pick one method over the other or if both ways of training could work?

I appreciate any guidance on this one,
