My last home was in a deed restricted subdivision and had all kinds of rules, one being no fences. So, loving the cottage garden look, I got sneaky and put up a short fence big enough for a pup play area & masked it with tall flowering shrubs and planted tons of lupines, hollyhocks, cosmos, bachelor buttons, daisies, etc.
