Hi wow I went out for the afternoon and came back to such a warm welcome. Well, back to the thread about puppy prices and by the way, Cora is a full litter sister to Matthew and both are my pride and joy.
Anyway, on my pricesfor pet, I do not charge accordingly to what producing a litter might cost. I do not consider cost of csection if necessary, stud fees for which ever male I have used, or other factors. My purpose for breeding as a purebred fancier of the YOrkie is to try to produce a show dog for me. That doesn't always work out as I think it might in any mating so anything I have for sale for pet is something I decided won't contribute to my breeding plan for show quality and thus the betterment of the breed. I consider showing/breeding to be my hobby, my responsibility and out of it, I hope I can offer some pretty nice pet puppies to people who want a nice Yorkie pet.
When I sell a pup it is for pet under nonbreeding spay/neuter contracts. If I don't think it is worthy to pass on its genes to future generations, I am not going to let anyone else do that with my dog. I look at my dogs comparing to both the breed standard as well as what I have learned about the Yorkie from being in both the AKC and Canadian Kennel Club show rings and being among some of the breeders that have produced some of the best Yorkies I have seen.
Yep I consider Pat of Primrose Yorkies a friend of mine, didn't realize she was on this chat group and I am happy enough to be here also. I hope I can contribute and learn as well. I have been in this about 10 years now and I consider myself to be very new at it and have lots to learn.
