I have a Lookout one like this.....
Pet Console Car Seat for Small Dogs It sits on my center console so she can look out and still be tethered in. Tatum LOVES it! She hops right up in it and waits to be hooked up. I had an accident with my 8 week old toy poodle in the car with me about 22 years ago or so. Rolled the car about 5 times. The cause.... Dax running back and forth on the seat and in my lap. Very scary. Non-dog lover people sometimes think it's silly when they see it but I usually have them convinced very quickly. I highly recommend car seats for all pet owners. Even big dogs can (and should) be tethered to a seat belt.
