I would not rush into any surgery either. I also had a Bichon who was diagnosed with hip displasia at about the age of six. I gave her glucosamine the rest of her life and she never needed surgery and never limped or acted like it bothered her. She lived to be 13 years old. If I thought surgery was necessary, I would go for the gold bead implants rather than the hip ball removal. I would never have that done!
