You are so smart to be doing your research before breeding your precious baby!

I commend you on that! Your best bet as someone considering breeding your pet is to get a mentor...someone in your area who breeds yorkies and is a reputable breeder with a good reputation. Possibly your vet knows of someone who fits that decription if you don't.

I am not a breeder but I have read about all of the risks and there is so much to learn that I know it is not for me. I have great respect for yorkie breeders because it is such hard work.

I do not know how many puppies most first litters contain but I think it can be anywhere from one to seven being the most I have ever heard of in a yorkie litter with three or four probably being the average.

Olivier, a breeder on here just had six and another breeder, YorkiRini had two.

You might try posting in the Breeder section too as the breeders tend to check that section and stay there a lot. I am sure they can answer your questions better than me.
