I think 30 minutes is a great way to start and see from there whether your dog needs more or not. Just like what others suggested, it all depends on each individual dog.

Emma is 3.4 pounds and almost 2 years old. She can go on and on AND on! We'll take her for a walk & the park to play fetch. When she gets home, she still wants to play fetch. Carmel, on the other hand, is 5.5 pounds and almost 2 years old as well. He LOVES to go out for walk and run around on the grass. He also LOVES to say hi to other dogs and plays with SOME dogs. Then, when he comes home, he becomes a yorkie stuffed animal because he won't do anything. LOL
