You should do whatever you want.
I have gotten flack for dressing mine in clothes, putting them in a carrier, having them in a stroller, etc, etc.
I know how my dogs are treated, I know what their quality of life is, I know how happy they are- and that is all that matters to me.
People will always find something to talk about, so let them talk.
