Default Turning a Yorkie over to rescue

My son is finally facing the possibility of turning my granddaughter's little Yorkie, Samantha, over to a rescue organization. I have her now, but cannot keep her. I will have her spayed before letting her go to anyone. My son is gone 12 hours a day, works 10-hour days and drives almost an hour each way. He has asthma and his doctor thinks the dog is a problem. I'm not sure of that, but he hasn't had any problems since Samantha has been at my house, a little over a month now. It will be hard for them to let Samantha go, but I think it would be the best thing for her and them. My granddaughter is 14 and Samantha is her dog. I think a rescue organization would be a better solution than just finding someone willing to take her. Rescue organizations do all the right things. I feel bad about it, but am gently pushing my son to make the decision to let her go and start talking to my granddaughter and asking her to accept the best thing for Samantha.
