My little baby Louie has tear ducts that are not producing tears! I took him to the vet last week because he kept scratching at his eyes, the vet thought it was pink eye and gave him drops, I took him back a couple of days later because he woke up with his eyes swollen shut, the vet referred me to an eye specialist and it seems he has an ulcer in his eye caused by scratching his pink eye infection which came about because his eyes don't produce tears. He is on antibiotic drops and ointments to hopefully stimulate tear production...I have to revisit the specialst in 3 weeks, if there is no improvement he will need surgery to correct the problem Does anyone know about this? He said it was common in yorkies?? Anyone else out there who's baby has the same problem? I feel so bad because he hates all those drops and ointments I have to put in and artificial tears every hour, but I keep telling him mommy is doing this so he can get better. My heart is broken, he's sooo little to have to go through this.
