Eukanuba is made by Iams and lots of people boycott Iams because they do animal testing. I think we should boycott it because they don't use quality ingredients! Company practices aside, you can't hide the fact that it's not the greatest food. And, as far as the vets go, I understand people following their advice but it's absolutely imperative that you do your own research. MANY vets are not up on the latest foods available. All you have to do is learn to read the ingredient list to determine if a food is good or not.

Eukanuba has corn and by-products in it, among other not so great things. (Corn is bad for dogs, it's not digestable. It also creates a lot more poop!) I will admit Eukanuba is probably better than most of the other brands you will find at your grocery store, but it doesn't touch some of the other readily available wholesome foods out there. Take a look at your bag of Eukanuba (or go to their website) and compare the ingredients to the definitions on this website:

Here's some better choices: Canidae, Wellness, Innova, California Natural, Chicken Soup, Natural Balance
These and more can be found all over the country at Pet Supplies Plus, as well as lots of independent doggie "boutiques". I get Canidae from my trainer. We also have a local feed store that carries a couple good ones. If you must go to Petsmart, I think Nutro Natural is the best they carry (read the labels on the different formulas, I think some are better than others). PetCo carries Natural Balance (get the Ultra Premium), which is pretty good!
Just read the ingredient list and feed what you are comfortable with. Good luck!
