I am so sorry for your loss.....I know how heartbreaking something like that can be even though you didn't really know her. I once adopted a Cocker spaniel/mix named Heidi from a shelter and she was only at my house for 1 night when I had to take her to the ER. She died 3 days later of heart failure also. I will pray for you and hope that you can get through this sad time as easily as possible.
