There is no one perfect food- there are so many variables, it is really about what works for your individual puppy which can take a lot of trial and error.
With that being said, generally, if you can find it in the grocery store it is not a good food.
PetCo now carries a lot of the holistic, all natural foods- Natural Balance, Wellness, Solid Gold, Halo, Blue Buffalo, etc. They are all decent brands.
The brands I prefer are usually found in specialty pet stores, GO!/ NOW!, Nature's Variety, FROMM.
