When I was potty training my pups, I kept them confined in there play yard...and would take them out just about every hour...as I was taking them out of the play yard I would say "lets go outside to potty" once we were outside I said "go potty" for pee and if I knew it was time to poop I would than start saying "hurry up"...I never let my pups play outside at all while I was potty training them...I let them do there business and it was right back into the house...at that time I didn't want them to think outside was play time...IF they did their business outside, we came back into the house than I let them play for awhile and before putting them back in there play yard for their nap I took them back out to potty again and always took them out to potty after every meal.
Bella is almost 3 yrs old fully house trained now, she wil NOT potty in the house. Harley and Ivy are 9 mos old, they have full run of the house now. They are doing great with there potty training...I let them out every 2 to 3 hours...I've only had Ivy for 4 weeks now and she had 1 accident this morning at the back door while waitting for her Daddy to let her out...he decided to make him a cup of coffee before letting them out and poor Ivy just couldn't hold it anymore...so that was DH's fault for not letting them out first...LOL |
