Under those circumstances, I wouldn't switch. They say things they regret sometimes. It's an exhausting and annoying job at times. They get grumpy.
It definitely is their business how many animals are in the house. Hoarding is a big issue (not saying by any means that 6 animals is hoarding). Disease could spread through all of them, etc., etc.
Getting two pups close together isn't really recommended, so there might have been concern about that. As long as the vet doesn't keep at it, I'd let it go. And ignore the staff.
