I have decided for my dogs that the risk of the vaccine does not outweigh the benefit. In fact, my breeder has it in her contract that no lepto may be given. I think I have seen it in the contracts of some of the breeders on here too.
I would definitely contact animal control in your area or the center for disease control and try to get statistics for lepto in your area and the areas where you go camping. Ask your vet if he/she has this info isnce in my opinion they should to be able to adequately assist their patients in making informed decisions.
I don't even give my dogs rabies because there hasn't been a case of rabies in over 40 years in my area.
Vaccines are not to be taken lightly as they have side effects, some with long range aspects to them and I don't agree with a standard routine schedule for all.
Youa re right to question this and to research and make the decision that is right for you and your baby. I know it is a tough one. |
