Hopefully you're able to catch a nap today after your long night last night! I hate staying alone in a new place at night too. You hear every sound. I always would keep a lot of lights on and the phone right by me.
Once a friend who was a police officer told me I should have gotten a german shepherd, not a yorkie (this was before I met husband). He might have had a point. I had a mouse once. Cricket new right away it was there before me, heard it and barked, but then hid behind me while continuing to bark when I had it cornered in the kitchen!
