I hear ya, I'm in MI too and our air conditioner broke last week. Thank goodness the guy is coming here tomorrow and installing a new one bright and early.
But I've been feeding Gizmo ice chips and taking him out to pet friendly stores and malls.
We also went to Grandma's often and have been sleeping in the basement (granted you're in an apartment and don't have basement access).
Floor fans get alot of air moving as well as lines curtains can insolate your apartment.
