I think this is a great idea, but first look at the list of organizations that Ann posted. These are people who tried the same thing, but many can't operate anymore because they have no $$$. The AAHA has/had a fund too. The problem is money or lack there of. Tons of organizations want donations and the money just doesn't come in. So most importantly, you'll have to come up with a unique way of getting donations.
