Mine is a Panasonic network camera. Its nice because it isn't hooked up directly to a computer. (It must be when you initially setup the camera, but that's the only time.) I haven't had any experience with the kind that hooks up to a pc. It is quite a bit more pricey than webcams that run off a pc. But on the plus side, it comes with a host site for your camera and you don't have to pay extra for it. It also has a built in microphone to hear what's going on around it, and the camera moves around & can zoom. The tech support was really good too when I called them.
You'll need to make sure that you have a router for your internet that is compatible with it also.
