Cesars dew claws So I took Cesar in for his nail trimming and was told that he has a dew claw that is growing abnormally and that I need to keep an eye on it and it needs to be trimmed more often than his other nails because those nails grow quickly and do not come into contact with the ground.
Well, I just got back from his nail clipping and this claw still looks pretty long. I asked if this was as short as they could go and they said yes. It's not so much long as it is circular. The other dew claw grows like his other claws and is not as bad, but this one is still close to the soft spot of the paw and is very curled. It looks like within a couple weeks it will be back into contact with his paw.
I called the vet about removal and they said that they don't do it.
What do you guys do about this claw? Should I keep looking for somebody to remove it? I don't want him to get an infection if this ever slips my mind. |
