I go to sleep with him on the bed and wake with him still on the bed. He is peepee pad trained so occassionally he will use them in the middle of the night.

He doesn't have full run of the house, just yet, during the day, when I am at work. I am thinking that starting Monday I will give him full run of my bedroom, to start with.
I think that's the key, a little at a time. If the pup is potty trained and you are sure and comfortable enough to trust him/her, allow them a tad but more freedom. If they prove themselves trustworthy, give them more space. Eventually, they'll graduate to having free roam of the house. Also, don't be afraid to take some of that space back. After Kaji took a liking to dumpster diving, he lost his kitchen privileges. He sits at the door and will only come in when invited. When no one is home, the kitchen is gated off and he has access to all the other rooms in the house.

I do agree with some other posters that say if it works well as is, don't change the system. Enjoy your sleep.
