I tend to agree here. The caveat being hopefully you can pre-plan enough ahead of time to have say $3000 already in a CD or other interest bearing asset, prior to the purchase of your pup.

If not that some credit card with that amount of room in it.

We self insure our dogs, and let me tell you, this year has been a very expensive one.
