Cali and I travel via plane a lot. Fortunately, she has never needed to be sedated, but at first I carried a sedative the bet had given me.
All of the advise about getting your baby used to the carrier is very important. Cali will still go into her carrier sometimes at home and take a nap and she knows sometimes there are hidden treats in there.
One thing I do that has been helpful that I will share: Cali uses a piddle-pad at home all the time. When we travel, between flights I go into the bathroom, into the handicap stall (it is bigger), put her piddle-pad down and tell her to potty. When she is finished I just roll it up and put where ever people put their used diapers and we are on our way. Works like a charm!
We have made some really long overseas trips and we do the same thing in the airplane lavatory if she needs it. |
